Anvil Centre Kiosk

Our self-service borrowing kiosk and its partner unit, a self-service holds & returns locker, represent our latest initiative to better serve downtown residents. Find these automated units in the Anvil Centre’s lobby on the ground floor.

Before you visit

You will need a library card to use the services

You can access the items in the kiosk by using your library card number and four-digit PIN. If you don’t have one, get a library card by visiting one of our two branches.

Availability is based on Anvil Centre’s hours of operation

With some exceptions, the Anvil Centre is open Monday to Thursday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday to Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Library staff are not on-site at Anvil Centre

If you have a question, issue, or simply feel you need to connect with a library staff member, then please visit one of our branches instead and we’ll be happy to help.

FAQ

What is the Anvil Centre kiosk?

Operating much like a library vending machine, the self-service kiosk allows you to browse and borrow a selection of popular items on-site.

What can I borrow?

Items from the library such as books, DVDs, and CDs. Our staff regularly restocks the collection to keep it fresh.

How does it work?

You unlock the kiosk using your active library card number and four-digit PIN.  When you close the door, the system uses radio-frequency identification (RFID) to identify the material you have taken and checks it out to you.

Do I need a library card?

Yes! Get a library card if you don’t have one.

What is my PIN?

Your PIN is usually the last 4 digits of your phone number. If that doesn’t work, please contact us.

I would like an item that isn’t in here?

You can log into our online catalogue and place holds on items as usual. New is choosing “Anvil Centre” as the location to pick up your holds.

I don‘t think it’s working. Help?
